After facing backlash for kissing her daughter on the lips a number of parents shared sweet pictures of them kissing their own kids on the lips.
Victoria Beckham has received support from numerous parents after being hit with severe criticism over a sweet picture showing her kissing her five-year-old daughter on the lips. The mother of four and former Spice Girl shared a photo online of her placing a kiss on her little girl’s lips. The picture caused a flurry of negative comments with some even calling the pair ‘lesbians’.
But parents have come out in force to back the star by sharing sweet pictures of them kissing their own kids.
Here is the original photo.Victoria posted the pic on Instagram with the comment: “Happy Birthday baby girl. We all love you so much. Kisses from mummy X.”
And while most comments were positive some users were less than happy with the shot.
“Eww sorry I’m old fashioned it looks like they making out.”
While another added:
“A lot of kids get cold sores from their parents kissing them on the mouth.”
And another added:
“It is strange to kiss your parents on the lips. Stop saying to other people it isn’t if they think it is because guess what they aren’t the only one.”
Meanwhile, there were plenty of other users who defended the star, insisting that it was completely natural.
“Why do people think it’s so weird for someone to kiss their own child on the lips?,” wrote one fan.I guess it’s only something a loving parent understands. I kiss my five-year-old daughter on the lips. Happy birthday to your little princess.”
“What is wrong with you people? I have two kids and I kiss them on the lips, there is nothing wrong with it.”
Jerome Brown from Manchester shared a photo kissing his young son Kylan Jerome Foley Brown, who turns two this week, with the caption:
“Criticise me then. I kissed my son on the lips, the small minded idiots.”
And mum Nicola Louise O’ Connell shared one kissing her daughter on the lips, something she does every day.
“Nothing wrong with showing your child you love them. I don’t care what people think. Victoria clearly loves her children just like I love my daughter with all that I am and that won’t ever change, no matter what her age is. Love is love and I’ll always kiss my child.”
Another mum Emma Hambleton said she too kisses her five-year-old daughter Hope on the lips every day and said it’s ‘a sad world’ for anyone to see any wrong in that.
“I have lots of pictures of us kissing and cuddling, just the same as I have loads of pictures of us playing, laughing, and having fun. I love my daughter with every fibre in my body and for someone to say it’s wrong is disgusting. It’s a sad world we live in that a picture of a mother kissing her daughter can be turned into something other than the pure love that it is meant to be.”
