Simon Cowell is a very stern man who isn’t very easily impressed. That’s why just a “yes” from him on the X Factor is a huge achievement in itself even if you get a “no” from everyone else.
However, one performer did more than impress Simon Cowell, he brought him to tears:
21-year-old Josh Daniel performed Labrinth’s song “Jealous” in front of the judges and dedicated it to his best friend who passed away in 2013.
“The lyrics kind of say I’m jealous that you’re happy without me,” Daniel explained. “And I kind of see it in the sense that I’m jealous that he’s now happy in heaven, that he’s moved on to a better place and that I can’t still be with him.”
As the contestant passionately performed the heart-wrenching lyrics, Cowell became emotional and even shed a few tears.
Why did he cry, you ask? There are probably a million reasons why he did but one journalist from Hello Magazine believes that Cowell related to the struggle that Josh had gone through because this particular audition was filmed shortly after Cowell’s mother passed away on July 5, 2015 at the age of 89.
“That was the most captivated I’ve been in all the auditions so far,” Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said and I completely agree with her.
